Merillat Somerton Hill cabinets as featured in the Reed Show Village at IBS
Explore the kitchens at the 2010 International Builders’ Show (IBS) Show Village outside the Las Vegas Convention Center January 19-22, and something could feel quite familiar. That’s because Merillat cabinets are featured in three homes in the Reed Show Village, as well as the NextGen “Builders Challenge.”
As the leading cabinetry manufacturer for the new home construction market, we sponsor these homes to demonstrate our commitment to builders. Our aim is to inform and inspire them, displaying the newest products and demonstrating the latest building practices and processes.
Merillat is the exclusive cabinetry supplier for the homes, which showcase the breadth of our product offerings. Visitors will see many different finishes, including some glazes, and many decorative details such as feet, corbels, ornamental onlays and molding inserts.

Builders will find an exciting new way to way to streamline their kitchen projects when they visit the International Builder’s Show in Las Vegas January 19-22, where Merillat is introducing ProCision™, a fully coordinated cabinet and countertop installation process.
ProCision is offered exclusively with three Masco Builder Cabinet Group (MBCG) brands: Merillat and QualityCabinets, and the premium DeNova countertop brand, which joined the MBCG family in 2008.
ProCision integrates factors like cabinet design, countertop templating, coordinated cabinet and countertop scheduling, and facilitates same-day delivery and installation. A precise digital measuring and templating system covers cabinets and countertops at the same time, so there’s no need for a traditional plywood countertop template.
Karen Strauss, MBCG President, thinks builders will love ProCision. “One of the most frustrating issues for builders is to install cabinets and then have to wait several days for the countertops to be delivered – hoping they will install smoothly.”
Builders who use ProCision can expect some positive developments:
A kitchen installation cycle that’s 8 to 15 days shorter
Fewer trips to the jobs site
Fewer “competing” subcontractors on the job site
One single point of contact for sales, service and support
Stop by the Merillat booth at IBS and see how your installation process can look as smooth and coordinated as your finished product, thanks to ProCision.
People love their things, but they may get even more excited about having a place to put those things. After price, storage is the most important factor for 84% of cabinetry shoppers. Yet they often don’t know what kinds of storage options they have.
Paul Radoy, Manager of Design Services for Merillat, recommends looking at a kitchen in sections. “All kitchens have cooking and cleanup zones; some kitchens may have an island or even a pantry. I see each section as a gold mine of storage opportunities.”
In the cooking zone, smart storage can save you time. A drawer organizer kit or a utensil hanging system can keep utensils in order and within reach. A top-hinged cabinet locks open so you can get at the contents while you’re cooking. You can store a lot on a lazy susan, or in a swing-out base cabinet, and access it all without digging. A pull-down knife rack can hang under a nearby wall cabinet. Under the cooktop, extra wide or deep drawers can hold pots and pans, and a deep drawer organizer can separate them with solid hardwood pegs.
In the cleanup zone, around the sink and dishwasher, a tilt-out sink tray will keep soaps and sponges out of sight. Under sink totes help you keep bigger items under control.
Kitchen islands offer convenient storage. Paul says, “An island set up for wine storage and serving is classy and practical, and spice drawers are great for napkins and corkscrews.”
Paul finds that most people have a pantry on their wish list. After all, it’s a great way to store lots of items in one convenient place. “The more storage you have, the more places you’ll have to hide the cookies.”

If you’re at the 2010 International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas January 19-22, you’ll be one of the first to see a demonstration of the new Merillat CoreGuard™ Sink Base, a revolutionary water-resistant base cabinet that will be available this fall.
It’s something everyone can relate to. Mark Ayers, our Vice President of Marketing, says “A lot can happen under your sink. Leaks and spills can lead to stains and damage. CoreGuard helps protect your cabinetry investment.”
The Merillat CoreGuard Sink Base is made of an engineered polymer specifically designed to resist damage from spills and leaks. The face, frame and door assembly are wood, but behind them, everything is a water-resistant, non-wood material that’s easy to clean and is stain-resistant.
The floor has a slight forward tilt and a rib design to direct any spills forward. With CoreGuard, you can see a problem right away and clean it up. It’s a low-maintenance solution in a cabinet that’s built to last.
Merillat brings new solutions to the kitchen, and CoreGuard is one we’re especially proud of. According to Mark Ayers, “It’s a revolutionary addition to the kitchen, and we think it’s something homeowners are going to demand.”
